Teen Saxophonist Turned Pilot & Entrepreneur

At just 15 years old, Zane Polins turned his passions for music and aviation into something bigger than himself—Bird Nerd Aviation Apparel.

Zane is a saxophonist at Tampa’s Blake High School and a student pilot at St. Pete Air, flying a Piper Warrior II over the skies of Tampa Bay. While most teens his age are focused on school and sports, Zane splits his time between jazz rehearsals, flight lessons, and building a brand that reflects his unique journey.

The Birth of Bird Nerd

Flight training isn’t easy—or cheap. Faced with the challenge of funding his own aviation dream, Zane decided to create a way to fuel his hours in the cockpit while also inspiring others who share his love for flying. That’s how Bird Nerd Aviation Apparel was born.

Designed “For Pilots with Attitude,” Bird Nerd brings together bold aviation-inspired gear with the spirit of adventure. It’s not just clothing—it’s a movement for aviators and aviation lovers who live with their eyes to the skies.

Eyes on the Future

Zane’s long-term goal is to earn his private pilot’s license, pursue aviation studies at a top institution such as The Florida Institute of Technology or Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and eventually become a commercial airline pilot. Along the way, Bird Nerd Aviation Apparel isn’t just helping fund his own flight hours—it’s also becoming a way to give back.

In the future, Zane wants to establish a scholarship fund from Bird Nerd sales to support other young aspiring pilots who face financial barriers.
